Center Detail of Three Panel Card Series


I created this animation to illustrate the process of creating this unique digital piece in the Warhammer card series.
The three panel triptych layout required a unusual design solution to give each card it's own dynamic composition. I also wanted to give it a very epic look as a single piece so I approached it like an old war mural. Besides the size and layout the creation process was essentially the same as my other Warhammer card game work.

Step 1: The process began with a VERY rough thumbnail drawing about 3" x 12" on tracing paper.
Step 2: I scanned the thumbnail drawing into the computer and drew tighter on top of it in Photoshop using a stylus on a Wacom drawing tablet.
Step 3: I printed out the tighter digital drawing at full size (24.5" x 6") and reverted back to pencil and paper to redraw the piece again even tighter.
Step 4: The final tight pencil was scanned and utilized as one of many layers in Photoshop to create the final painting.
